Loki: Warrior Princess, God of Thunder While I've always loved dressing up for Halloween (it was really the only part of the holiday I enjoyed, besides the decorations), I've only recently started to really design my own costumes and take them out of the October festivities.

It started in January or February of last year, when I managed to convince a few of my friends into going as a group to the midnight premiere of the Avengers, dressed in costume as whichever version of whichever Avenger we prefered.

Only a couple of us started our costumes that early, but come May we had Bucky as Captain America, Modern Age Hawkeye, Classic Thor (me!), Classic Black Widow, and Avengers version Nick Fury.

After that I talked my brother and his girlfriend into making movie version Lord of the Rings costumes for Halloween and to potentially wear to the Hobbit premiere, and that's when I got the bug.

I spent a long time on my Aragorn costume, learning how to craft foam into things that no longer looked like foam, and even picked up a bit of sewing. I spent much more time and money on the costume than I meant to, but in the end I really loved it (except for the huge, bulky jacket I ended up having to use).

I made quick, unappreciated costumes for my cat and brother's dog, and started working on a Xena costume for this year's convention. I have the front part of the chest piece done, but am shelving the project for now since I can't find a suitable, affordable leather dress and don't have the skills to make one myself.

Instead I'm working on a Loki costume, based mostly on the cover from the Trials of Loki comic book, but with some elements from the 4 issue Loki miniseries (mainly the colours and lower half).

While I am very obviously new at this, I learned a lot with my Aragorn project and hope to learn more between now and the end of March as I really get into figuring out my Loki costume.
